CITY OF OTHERS: ASIAN ARTISTS IN PARIS, 1920s-1940s is an exhibition that examines the art history of Paris from Asian perspectives. It compares the experiences of Asian artists in Paris during a dynamic period of time, featuring works by artists Foujita Tsuguharu, Georgette Chen, Liu Kang, Pai Un-soung, Itakulla Kanae, Hamanaka Katsu, and more.
Lightly influenced by Art Deco, the visual identity design incorporates architectural references into the secondary graphics. The brochure unfolds into building silhouettes to form a stylised cityscape. The colour palette consisting of black, gold, celadon and jade, is inspired by Vietnamese lacquerware and traditional Asian crafts.
The identity extends across digital and environmental applications, as well as spatial design elements within the exhibition.
